Registration and Information Desk

The desk will open through the conference as follows :
Monday 18 Feb. and Tuesday 19 Feb. 9:00 - 13:00 and 14:00 - 17:00, Thursday 21 Feb. 9:00 - 13:000 and 14:00 - 15:00.
Participants are kindely requested upon registration to show documents indicating payment of full conference fees at the registration desk, or to pay (complete to the full fee) in cash.

Entry Visa

All non-Egyptian participants are requested to have a valid passport and entry visa. Visas can be obtained from Egyptian consulate or embassy in their countries in advance.

Conference Venue

The Conference will be held at the Meridien Heliopolis, Cairo. Le Meridien Heliopolis is a five stars hotel situated  at El-Orouba Avenue, the main avenue connecting Cairo International Airport and the Heliopolis - Nasr City area of Cairo. Heliopolis (New Cairo) situates the El-Orouba Presidential Palace, the Military Academy, Baron Empain Palace, Heliopolis War (I) Cemetry, and the Basilique Catholic Church among other attractions. Nasr City is a modern district of Cairo with the National Stadium, the 6th October Panorama, the Un-known Soldier Monument, and the International Exhibition Yard. The venue is ~ 8 km from Cairo International Airport with several good hotels in the nearby.
The climate in Cairo during mid March is very favourable, the temperature range is 19-27 C during the day and 11-16 C at night, humidity ~70%.

 Hotel Information

The Organizing Committee had reserved a limited number of rooms for participants in Le Meridean Heliopolis and Oasis hotels . Participants who need hotel reservation are kindly requested to choose one of the hotels mentioned below :
- Le Meridien Heliopolis - the conference venue, a 5 star hotel in Heliopolis at special conference rate 100 US$ per night in single bed room, 115 US$/night in double bed room.
- Oasis, a 3 star hotel in Nasr City at special rate 40 US$/night (SBR) and 50 US$/night (DBR).
The above rates are on BB Basis, taxes included.

Conference hotels can be reached from Cairo Airport by taxi. The cost of the ride should be ~ 60 EGP. (1 Euro= 7.9.EGP). Limousine, Rawas, and Budget services are also possible at ~ 80 EGP. Meridean Heliopolis provides for its clients free Airport-hotel-Airport transportation, provided flight details are known 48 hours in advance.

Participants are requested to do their hotel reservations -at the conference rate, which is almost 30% lower than the available on the net- through direct e-mail contact with the sales managers of conference hotels as follows:

Scientific Programme

The full programme including details of sessions, book of abstracts, and other conference material will be available upon registration.

Poster Format

Poster format is max 90x120 cm2, max 2 pages. A poster should include:
Title, authors, addresses / Introduction (scientific background, questions) / Materials and methods / Results (including tables, figures and graphs) / Conclusion(s) / References.

Electronic Refereeing

To speedup publication, whenever deems possible electronic refereeing of contributed articles will be done. Hence, authors are kindly requested to provide within due dates on a CD or 3.5" diskette with a complete version of their contributions written in editable format: MS-WORD or LaTeX editable source file.

Social Programme

Monday, 18 Feb.
A tour is organized for participants and their companions to Fatimide and Memlouk Cairo, at the cost of the conference. Buses will depart from the conference venue at 19.00, stop at El-Hussien Mosque Square. You are then free to explore, smell the blend of the east, shop, have a drink, etc. The buses will return to the conference hotels at 22:00. Details of the trip will be posted at the information desk

Tuesday, 19 Feb.
A conference gala evening (Cruise on the Nile) is organized for participants and their companions for 240 EGP/40 Euro, transportation, show and dinner included. Places are limited and will be issued on first-come first-served basis. Buses will depart from the conference venue at 19:00, and will return to the Conference Hotels. Details will be posted.

Wednesday, 20 Feb.
For this free day for social events, a tour is otganized to Giza Pyramids and Sphinx, Egyptian Museum, and a hot lunch at an oriental resturant, the cost (for Egyptians/non-Egyptians) is 180 EGP/50 Euro.
Alternative sight-seeing tours and trips are offered for selection:
1- A tour to Islamic Museum and Famous Mosques.
2- A tour to Suspended Church and Coptic Museum.
3- A trip to Sakkarah and Memphis.
Prices and full details will be posted at the information desk. Participants and/or companions who have interest are requested to inform by e-mail and to contact information desk not later than 12:00 Tuesday 19 Feb..

Thursday, 21 Feb.
The Conference Lunch will be held at the conference venue. Tickets will be provided in the participants packs (cost is included in the registration fee). The cost for accompanying person will be 150 EGP/20 Euro to be paid in advance at the registration time.

Companions Tours
Sight seeing tours to archeological and touristic regions in Cairo and Giza are organised upon request. For more information contact the information desk.
